BIG SWING THEORY

THIS SATURDAY. May 18. 7pm - ?

Taos Mesa Brewing Co.

Weston Price from the Gnomies has been kind enough to lend his dad Jackson (and band, Big Swing Theory) to us for an evening of fun this Saturday at Taos Mesa Brewing.   Why?  Well, lots of reasons, but mostly to celebrate!  We are officially celebrating the launch of our Accessible to All tuition adjustment program - not to mention lots of other great things - in this unique benefit concert for TWS.  Come on down and get in for an easy $5.  There will be lots of great art, gifts, and fun things to bid on in the silent auction as well.

Flashmob Coffee

You never know when a mob might form to do something interesting.  Around here it's fundraising!

Check out our "Flashmob Cafe", springing up where you least expect it - to offer espresso beverages to benefit TWS!  Every day this week at dropoff, and most days at pickup, too.  Don't be surprised if the occasional baked good is available as well.

Just follow the signs, have some fun, and enjoy that end-of-year whiff of freedom!

TWS Garden Wish List

Hello, Everyone.

This is a wish-list for the TWS garden from our new Grounds and Garden coordinator, Barry Doucette. Our hope was that as parents are preparing their own gardens this spring, we might be able to spare an item or two for the school garden. For me, just reading this list was an inspiration.

So many thanks to all of you!

–Andy

Mulch: Oh what a beautiful material and largely the most important material on this list. With this grand gift we can conserve our water resources, actually cultivate our land to propagate soil creating microorganisms, produce beautiful, delicious, nutritious food, and create the enigmatic molecule known as hummus. Clean wood chips that include green matter (leaves/needles) are best. Please no wood chips that include processed lumber, this includes wood chips available from the dump. If someone has a connection for dump trucks full of wood chips I would very gladly take them. We really can't have to many. Straw bales, or loose straw totally welcome. Bags of leaves, great. Any carbonaceous natural material we would love to put it to high use here at Taos Waldorf to help in the creation of food to feed hungry minds.

Okay, we admit it.....we're kinda proud....

A Morning in the 8th grade
Have a young child in Waldorf and wonder where it's all going?   Just want to come and celebrate your fabulous 8th grader?  Join Ms. Beasley and her class for a fantastic morning TOMORROW, Tuesday May 7 at 9am for a peek into what the Waldorf middle school is all about.  We promise it will be lots of fun.  All welcome!

Project Presentations
Did you ever forge your own sword?  Make a custom french pastry?  Create your own film?  Record a CD?

Well, our 8th graders did.  That, and much more.

Did you know that visioning, researching, and implementing a year-long custom creative project is part of the Waldorf 8th grade curriculum?  It encourages young people to connect to their communities, develop relationships with professional mentors, consider what is important in the world, and create something of lasting worth.   Most of them have been working all year on their projects, and are ready to share them with you.

Please join us for an evening of 8th grade project presentations tomorrow, TUESDAY, at 6:30pm.  Come see the skills, insight, and capacity our young people are ready to take into the world.  You'll be glad you did.

Thank you dearly for embracing our family with welcome arms!
